Table A(cont.): Selected Characteristics of Active Local Doctors Enumerated in Health Manpower Survey by Survey Year (1982-2023) In the 2005 Health Manpower Survey, 1 753 dentists covered and 1 111 active dentists were enumerated. 800 were male and 311 were female. Their sex ratio was 257 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 41.7 and median age was 41.0. Among the 1 111 active dentists enumerated, 201(18.1%) worked in the Government, 825(74.3%) worked in the private sector, 79(7.1%) worked in others and six(0.5%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2006 Health Manpower Survey, 1 794 dentists covered and 1 031 active dentists were enumerated. 756 were male and 275 were female. Their sex ratio was 275 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 42.4 and median age was 42.0. Among the 1 031 active dentists enumerated, 134(13.0%) worked in the Government, 801(77.7%) worked in the private sector, 77(7.5%) worked in others and 19(1.8%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2007 Health Manpower Survey, 1 838 dentists covered and 1 081 active dentists were enumerated. 787 were male and 294 were female. Their sex ratio was 268 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 43.0 and median age was 43.0. Among the 1 081 active dentists enumerated, 190(17.6%) worked in the Government, 794(73.5%) worked in the private sector, 94(8.7%) worked in others and three(0.3%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2009 Health Manpower Survey, 1 938 dentists covered and 1 232 active dentists were enumerated. 26 did not reveal their gender. Of the remaining 1 206 active dentists, 874 were male and 332 were female. Their sex ratio was 263 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 45.1 and median age was 45.0. Among the 1 232 active dentists enumerated, 211(17.1%) worked in the Government, 930(75.5%) worked in the private sector, 86(7.0%) worked in others and five(0.4%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2012 Health Manpower Survey, 2 053 dentists covered and 1 217 active dentists were enumerated. Nine did not reveal their gender. Of the remaining 1 208 active dentists, 843 were male and 365 were female. Their sex ratio was 231 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 45.5 and median age was 46.0. Among the 1 217 active dentists enumerated, 221(18.2%) worked in the Government, 887(72.9%) worked in the private sector, 98(8.1%) worked in others and 11(0.9%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2015 Health Manpower Survey, 2 173 dentists covered and 1 209 active dentists were enumerated. 14 did not reveal their gender. Of the remaining 1 195 active dentists, 809 were male and 386 were female. Their sex ratio was 210 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 46.6 and median age was 48.0. Among the 1 209 active dentists enumerated, 236(19.5%) worked in the Government, 895(74.0%) worked in the private sector and 78(6.5%) worked in others. In the 2018 Health Manpower Survey, 2 341 dentists covered and 1 288 active dentists were enumerated. Nine did not reveal their gender. Of the remaining 1 279 active dentists, 830 were male and 449 were female. Their sex ratio was 185 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 47.9 and median age was 50.0. Among the 1 288 active dentists enumerated, 244(18.5%) worked in the Government, 951(73.8%) worked in the private sector and 90(7.0%) worked in others and three(0.3%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2024 Health Manpower Survey, 2 576 dentists covered and 1 385 active dentists were enumerated. 45 did not reveal their gender. Of the remaining 1 340 active dentists, 876 were male and 464 were female. Their sex ratio was 189 male active dentists enumerated per 100 female active dentists enumerated. Their mean age was 50.1 and median age was 51.0. Among the 1 385 active dentists enumerated, 176(12.7%) worked in the Government, 1 090(78.7%) worked in the private sector and 71(5.1%) worked in others and 48(3.5%) did not reveal their sector of work.
